Nature Games

With the Endangered: New Species expansion starting to be delivered, we got thinking about games that deal with nature in all sorts of ways. There are lots of approaches here, and we’re going to talk about a few we think do it particularly well. Game names link to our reviews, when possible.

Endangered (Grand Gamers Guild), of course!

Wingspan (Stonemaier Games) – “everyone’s favorite bird game” and so educational!

Subastral (Renegade Game Studios) – no animals at all, just ecosystems/terrain

What in the Wild (Michigan DNR) – ecosystem is all around us!

Evolution (North Star Games) and the Evolution family (Evolution: The Beginning, Oceans, etc.)

Seikatsu (IDW) – birds and flowers and perspective.

Arboretum (Renegade) – calm trees

Photosynthesis (Blue Orange) – mean trees. Be aware that the expansion (Under the Moonlight) drags.

Gods Love Dinosaurs (Pandasaurus Games) – food web in action with a very tight game loop. Build the most efficient loop.

Ecos: First Continent (AEG) – build the ecosystem together.

PARKS and TRAILS (Keymaster Games)
